IFA (Independent Financial Advisor)
A finance professional who can offer independent financial advice to their clients and can recommend suitable investments.
Investment
To provide time, money or other resources in order to receive a return in the future e.g. interest, rent, dividend or a social return. (See also social impact investment).
Institutional Investor
A company pension fund or other institution that is investing money on behalf of the members of an organization e.g. investing the money paid in by employees into a pension fund.
IRR (Internal Rate of Return)
The measure of how much return there will be on an investment, and how quickly the money will be repaid.
Intersectionality
Intersectionality acknowledges that personal, social, and political identities are multidimensional, rather than assuming that social categories, such as ‘race’, ‘gender’, ‘sexuality’, ‘class’ and ‘disability’ can be separated. For example, women living with disabilities are two times more likely to experience domestic abuse than non-disabled women.
