I am delighted to share the Resonance Supported Homes Fund’s fourth Social Impact Report, for 2024. Read the report HERE.
This year, the fund has focused on actively deploying the capital raised to achieve the property requirements of its two partners, United Response and Golden Lane Housing. With twenty-three properties now in its portfolio, the fund has fulfilled 81% of its target deployment and aims to complete final deployment by mid-May 2025.
These properties – a mix of property types - have been purchased with housing partner and tenant input into the buying decision-making process, ensuring properties fit the needs of tenants.
All tenants are receiving expert support services from partners, enabling them to live their lives with independence and support.
This year, the fund conducted a short tenant survey with tenants, via its housing partners, with positive outcomes already being achieved for tenants, including:
Whilst the fund continues its vital work, the need for homes for people with learning disabilities and autistic people, continues. Sadly, over 2,000 people are currently living in hospital inpatient facilities rather than in the right accommodation for them; 66% of whom are autistic people.
So, it was wonderful, this year, to see even more people housed by the fund, including the first five tenants that moved into a shared home that was purchased for Golden Lane Housing in Oxfordshire.
Hannah, one of the tenants said: “I love this house so much because it’s a 10-minute walk from mum. I love my bedroom, living room, the kitchen and dining room. The staff are fantastic.”
Read more about this property in our case study and read what its tenants had to say about their new home, in our impact report.
Another exciting and unique development this year has been the fund’s acquisition of a large building (an ex-nightclub and before that a pub that started life in the 18th Century) in Mansfield for United Response – the single largest refurbishment undertaken by Resonance to date - that is being converted into eight individual flats, a communal space for tenants, support staff sleep in rooms and a regional office that will include local community space, too, for workshops, education, training and more.
Mark Dyer, Development Manager at United Response, said: “Our work with Resonance Supported Homes Fund is delivering incredible outcomes for people with learning disabilities or autistic people. Through our partnership, we have been able to develop high-quality housing for people we support in the heart of their own community. We’re hugely grateful for their support of our recent project in Mansfield. The development enables people to live independently and experience town-centre living with the security of on-site support. Along with community space where people can make new friends and develop new skills.”
The fund is proud to be starting to make a difference to the lives of people supported by its housing partners, providing them with the homes that suits their needs, whilst continuing to purchase more properties to ensure even more people with learning disabilities and autistic people can be given a home to call their own.
