RESONANCE SUPPORTED HOMES FUNDS SOCIAL IMPACT REPORT 2022/23
Hannah recently moved into her new home in Whitney, Oxfordshire. The home she is now living in was bought by the Resonance Supported Homes Fund for one of its housing partners, Golden Lane Housing, thanks to a £5m investment from Oxfordshire County Council.
But Hannah isn’t the only tenant now living in this beautiful six-bedroom property; she she’s sharing it with four other adults, all of whom have learning disabilities or are autistic and are living with 24-hour housing and tenancy support.
There are many things that Hannah loves most about her new home, including the fact that its location is now much closer to her mum and wider family. She can also walk independently to local shops and the town centre, which is helpful in her ambition to find voluntary work and potentially a part time job.
Watch Hannah’s story, introduced by Helen Ferguson, Senior Development Officer at Golden Lane Housing.
The home Hannah is sharing with her housemates is the first of five homes being purchased and refurbished in the county for adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, from this fund.
The property Hannah is living in has had extensive refurbishment and made more energy efficient - including a new boiler - adaptions to the kitchen and dining room to create a kitchen-diner, and renovations to the garden to help ensure it meets the tenants' needs and is accessible and manageable for them to maintain. Hannah enjoys keeping her home clean and tidy and is particularly excited about the garden and having BBQs in the summer!
Whilst Golden Lane Housing supports Hannah and her friends with their tenancies and looking after their home, Midco Care is providing the five tenants with supported living services, helping them all to live fulfilling lives with independence and choice.
ABOUT THE RESONANCE SUPPORTED HOMES FUND
The Resonance Supported Homes Fund is a social impact investment property fund that is helping to provide a solution to the desperate housing shortage that leaves thousands of adults with learning disabilities, autistic people and people with mental health issues living in inappropriate housing, or on long waiting lists for housing.
Utilising social impact investment from four investors, the fund has so far purchased twenty-one properties - a mix of shared and one-bedroom homes. All the properties purchased have undergone renovations and refurbishment to ensure they meet the bespoke needs of each tenant.
Eight properties have been handed over to two housing partners so far – Golden Lane Housing and United Response - and between them, six properties are now housing fifteen tenants. Other properties are in refurbishment whilst the fund continues to deploy and purchase additional properties across the UK for its housing partners.
