CASE STUDY:

HIGH STREET BUYOUT FUND

POWER TO CHANGE

Power to Change chose us to deliver a feasibility study for a £360m High Street Buyout Fund to pitch to Government, as part of their Take Back The High Street campaign.

The Strenghening Impact team, working closely with community and property experts from across the wider Resonance team, did the background research, the case studies and then the financial modelling work necessary to create the concept of a community-focused fund to purchase high street buildings and transfer these into community management and ownership.

Ailbhe McNabola, Policy and Communications Director at Power to Change, said: “Leveraging Resonance’s close ties with community organisations and previous investments into this sector, the team were able to identify several key criteria that could lead to a successful and investible fund where central government, charitable funders, commercial and social investors worked together to develop an impactful fund that created sustainable change on the high street.

“Power to Change chose to work with Resonance on the modelling and development of our High Street Buyout Fund proposal because of their track record in property funds with a social impact focus, such as the Women in Safe Homes Fund and the homelessness property funds. Their analysis and modelling enabled us to create and propose a flexible fund that could operate at different scales, forming the basis of our report and campaign for a High Street Buyout Fund.”
