A Resonance house is more than just a home. As well as providing a roof over tenants’ heads our homes are also helping to transform their lives. By providing housing stability and specialist support from housing partners, tenants feel secure, able to make other important and positive life choices in their lives, such as finding employment or tackling addiction issues, improve their wellbeing and to create positive futures for themselves.
To date, Resonance’s seven pioneering social impact residential property funds have provided homes for 3,000 people, including many families with young children, and who had been facing housing crisis, in over 1,000 properties across the UK.
And by working with 20 expert housing partners, every single tenant housed by the property funds is provided with or signposted to specialist support to settle into their homes and maintain their tenancies, to access addiction and mental and physical health support, employment and training opportunities.
All properties are bought to suit the needs of housing partners and the people waiting to be housed. The properties purchased are all ‘ordinary homes in ordinary streets’ in local communities, close to amenities, local transport, schools, GP surgeries and green spaces. They are all refurbished to a high standard to make them safe, energy efficient and welcoming for tenants.
Of course, all of this is possible thanks to the range of institutional investors – from local authorities and pension funds to trusts, foundations and high net worth individuals – who have chosen to support and invest in our property funds, making a real difference to the lives of people who would otherwise be living in temporary and unsuitable accommodation including B&Bs and hostels. To date, over £340 million has been raised by impact investors into our residential property funds.
One of the people housed by National Homelessness Property Fund 1 is Cliff.
Cliff lives in Bristol and, having been provided with his home by one of our housing partners, St Mungo's, is now being supported by another of our housing partners, Developing Health & Independence (DHI). Watch our film where Cliff explains how his new home has given him his life back.
