ABOUT: Street Impact Bristol is a Bristol City Council commissioned scheme to reduce the numbers of rough sleepers in Bristol. This project was a collaboration between homelessness charity St. Mungo’s, mental health charity Second Step and drug and alcohol services charity Bristol Drugs Project. This scheme which, as well as reducing rough sleeping, focussed on offering support for addiction and mental and physical health difficulties, ran from 2017-2021 helping 125 people. In 2017 64% of those 125 people were rough sleeping and by the end of the project this figure had reduced significantly to only 4%. These figures show that over the lifetime of the scheme 75 people were helped to find a place to live.
PURPOSE OF INVESTMENT: Investment from the South West SITR fund contributed to personalised outreach over a sustained period of time for 125 people. The investment acts as working capital to ensure the implementation of the scheme prior to the receiving of payment from their social impact bond.
Of the 125, 25 tenants secured a social worker, 39 clients engaged in substance misuse treatment, 23 clients secured their own tenancy and 40 clients were helped onto supported accommodation pathways.
