About Stop Domestic Abuse
Stop Domestic Abuse has been supporting adults and children affected by domestic abuse for more than 45 years. The charity provides trauma-informed support to help people escape abuse, recover from their experiences and rebuild their lives.
Alongside one-to-one support, group programmes and specialist services, Stop Domestic Abuse operates refuge accommodation across the South of England, providing safe places for women and children when they cannot remain in their own homes.
Our partnership
Since 2022, Stop Domestic Abuse has partnered with Resonance through the Women in Safe Homes Fund to expand access to specialist housing for women escaping domestic abuse.
Through the fund, a property in Portsmouth was acquired to provide safe, secure accommodation for women leaving abusive situations. The home complements Stop Domestic Abuse's wider refuge network, creating an additional housing option where women can begin to rebuild their lives with access to specialist support.
Impact
The Women in Safe Homes Fund has enabled Stop Domestic Abuse to provide a dedicated safe home in Portsmouth, helping address the shortage of specialist accommodation for women experiencing domestic abuse.
More than providing a roof over someone's head, the partnership offers women the safety, stability and time needed to recover from trauma and make informed decisions about their future. By combining social investment with specialist domestic abuse services, the partnership is helping more women move towards lasting independence and lives free from abuse.
