SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS:
ABOUT: Established in 2005 as an Arm's Length Management Organisation (ALMO), Stockport Homes operates independently while being owned by the Council. Its mission is to provide quality housing and transform the lives of customers by delivering excellent services, ensuring safe and sustainable homes, and supporting communities to thrive. The organisation offers a range of services, including tenancy support, repairs, home improvements, money advice, employment support, and health and wellbeing initiatives. Through its subsidiaries—Viaduct Housing Partnership, Three Sixty, and SKylight—Stockport Homes is dedicated to meeting housing and social needs, contributing to the broader regeneration of the Stockport area.
PURPOSE OF PARTNERSHIP: We are investing in a mix of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom houses and flats across Stockport and East Manchester through our National Homelessness Property Fund 2 (NHPF2), in partnership with Stockport Homes. Together, we are providing much-needed affordable homes for families, couples, and individuals on the housing register, offering more than just a place to live—this is about stability, security, and a fresh start.
As part of the Rough Sleepers Accommodation Programme (RSAP), we are also delivering dedicated 1-bedroom flats for those who have experienced homelessness. These homes provide a vital stepping stone towards independent living, ensuring people have the support and stability they need to rebuild their lives.
Through this partnership, we are creating long-term, positive change—helping tenants put down roots, become part of their community, and take steps towards a brighter future.
The National Homelessness Property Fund 2: This fund was created in December 2020 in response to the growing need for affordable housing, providing safe and decent homes for people in housing crisis. Initially, the fund’s focus was on providing homes in the Greater Manchester region but has since expanded into Bristol, Oxford, Merseyside and London.
As of September 2024, the fund has a total of 355 properties in its portfolio and has housed just 500 people across the UK.
