About Southmead Development Trust
Founded in 1985, Southmead Development Trust is a community-led charity and health and wellbeing hub supporting around 1,000 people every month across North Bristol. The Trust delivers a wide range of services focused on improving health, wellbeing, employment and community connection, including support for people experiencing mental health challenges, substance misuse, learning disabilities and unemployment. Alongside specialist support, SDT offers community activities, employability programmes and Greenway Care Connect, helping people build skills, confidence and stronger social connections.
Our Investment
Resonance invested £66,000 through the South West SITR Fund to enable essential repairs to the Trust's Greenway Centre, including roof restoration and the expansion of its dance and fitness studio. The investment also funded vital COVID-19 safety measures, ensuring the centre could continue providing services and activities safely during the pandemic.
Our Impact
The investment helped secure the future of a vital community hub that supports around 1,000 people each month. By improving the Greenway Centre and enabling services to continue safely, Southmead Development Trust has been able to maintain and expand its health, wellbeing and employment support, providing local people with opportunities to improve their physical and mental health, develop new skills, access work, and build stronger connections within their community.

Hundreds of people come through our doors every week to attend over thirty wellbeing community classes or groups, training courses, our community gym and café, or to work with our many partners on site. We are so excited to receive this support from Resonance to invest in some desperately needed improvements to our ageing building, including repairing our leaking roof and extending our dance and fitness studio.”
