About Southill Community Energy
Southill Community Energy (SCE) is a community-owned renewable energy organisation established to develop a ground-mounted solar farm serving the local area. Alongside generating clean electricity, the organisation reinvests its surplus into community projects that reduce carbon emissions and deliver lasting social and environmental benefits.
Our Investment
Resonance invested through the Community Share Underwriting Fund, providing a £600,000 underwriting commitment and loan that gave confidence to the community share offer and helped unlock over £1.8 million of community investment, alongside additional finance to deliver the solar farm.
Our Impact
The investment enabled the successful delivery of the Southill Solar Array, which generates enough renewable electricity to power around 1,100 homes while avoiding approximately 2,732 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. Income generated by the project is reinvested into local initiatives, including funding improvements to the energy efficiency of Charlbury Community Centre, creating lasting environmental and community benefits.
