YEAR FOUNDED: 2018
LOCATION: London
PARTNERSHIP DATE: JANUARY 2023
FUND PARTNERSHIP: National Homelessness Property Fund 2
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS:
ABOUT: Capital Letters is a unique independent not-for-profit private company limited by guarantee, owned by London boroughs, supported by the Government, working to end housing insecurity and homelessness. Set up in 2018, Capital Letters supplies affordable housing to its member London boroughs by working with investment organisations and landlords of all sizes offering full housing management, or standalone services.
PURPOSE OF PARTNERSHIP:The partnership between our National Homelessness Property Fund 2 and Capital Letters is a response to the unprecedented housing and cost-of-living crisis in London.
Currently in the capital:
As a housing partner to the fund, Capital Letters will help a mix of tenants from lone-parent families, couples and some tenants who are sharing a home to feel safe protected and settled, as a home should. Capital Letters homes will also provide an environment from which a tenant can build or rebuild; to recover from the trauma of homelessness or housing insecurity. Having an address will give dignity and an opportunity to work/study for many tenants to create new futures, stopping the cycle of homelessness we see far too often.
The National Homelessness Property Fund 2:
Sue Edmonds, CEO, Capital Letters said: “Capital Letters works with organisations that share our ethical social purpose approach to addressing homelessness. Working with Resonance meant increasing the number of affordable homes for our members, but it was also an opportunity to form a long-term strategic partnership with an organisation that shared our positive social values.”
