PURPOSE OF PARTNERSHIP: The Resonance Everyone In Fund (REIF) partnered with Nacro in March 2021 with the aim of providing housing for rough sleepers in London, reducing the rates of homelessness. REIF supports Nacro by leasing them properties making sure that tenants receive support for up to four years.
The Resonance Everyone In Fund:
Nacro is responsible for furnishing each property, ensuring its homeliness before people move in. And tenants are receiving individualised, wrap-around support to help them sustain their tenancies, make positive choices and rebuild their lives. This will enable more people to leave rough sleeping behind and live in supported accommodation.
Paul, one of the fund’s tenants and a former rough sleeper: “My old man was a bit strict so I sort of rebelled against him, he threw me out the house, and having nowhere to go, nowhere to turn to, the only thing I had left was sleeping on the street. It’s one of the worst feelings I’ve ever had, not having nowhere to go, no one to turn to.
“It’s a one bedroom flat. It’s beautiful, I love it here. The first time I moved in here I knew it was the right place. I mean, coming from a hostel where you got people around you just to have my own four walls, it’s bliss. It’s so quiet as well. And it was furnished, which is a major thing. Otherwise, I would have had to sleep on cold floors again. I can’t explain how good it is, you know, having my own place… the real meaning… I’m really lucky to get it. Real lucky.”
Campbell Robb, Chief Executive of Nacro: “Too many people in London are without a safe, secure home, unable to plan for the future. At Nacro, we're delighted to be working with the Everyone In partnership, to give people somewhere stable to live - along with extra support that can really make the difference. Holding on to a home in these difficult times is a vital step in helping people to move on with their lives.”
Simon Hughes, Head of Housing and Support at Nacro: “We know Rough Sleeping has a devastating impact on communities, people’s lives, health and future so we are delighted that the Resonance Everyone In fund is on target to acquire homes where Nacro can deliver the support to enable people to thrive and move towards lasting independence away from the street. “Holding on to a home in these difficult times is a vital step in helping people to move on with their lives.”
