Gro-Organic focus on urban regeneration by working with local authorities and housing and community groups to improve green spaces such as street corner plots and unused parks in order for them to be used as places where the local community can exercise, grow food and enjoy spending time outdoors.
Gro-Organic works in areas with particularly high levels of unemployment where their training programmes are much-needed, but Gro-Organic does not just benefit their participants by providing training, its programme also helps to increase the skill-base and improve confidence of young adults. The place-based impact approach of Gro-Organic also tackles food poverty- the communal gardens are used to grow fresh fruit and vegetables.
