About Bristol 24/7
Bristol 24/7 is a Community Interest Company and independent media organisation covering news, culture, social issues and life across Bristol. Alongside its journalism, the organisation works to make the media more inclusive by creating training, work experience and internship opportunities for people who may face barriers to entering the industry, including those without degree-level qualifications. Its community projects also bring together local people, businesses and organisations to create positive change across the city.
Our Investment
Resonance invested £150,000 through the South West SITR Fund to support the development of Bristol 24/7's community projects and expand its training opportunities in areas including journalism, social media, photography and videography. The investment also supported the recruitment of a partnership manager to strengthen collaboration with other community organisations across Bristol.
Our Impact
The investment helped Bristol 24/7 strengthen the social impact alongside its independent journalism, creating more opportunities for people to gain practical experience and develop skills for careers in the media and creative industries. It also supported the growth of community initiatives, including Bringing Bristol Together and the Young Chef Project, while strengthening partnerships with organisations across the city. Through these activities, Bristol 24/7 has helped widen access to training and employment opportunities while using its platform to connect and support Bristol's diverse communities.

Bristol 24/7: “Resonance have been incredibly flexible during a very challenging period. Their willingness to provide a repayment holiday has helped us survive and stabilise during COVID.”
Meena Alexander: “I really couldn’t think of a better place to start my journalistic career than with Bristol 24/7. I was thrown in at the deep end and treated like an important member of the team from day one- not a tea tray or a photocopier in sight. I learned such a wide variety of skills that have been invaluable; from writing, to editing, interviewing to photojournalism. I know I will be putting everything I learned at Bristol 24/7 to good use for years to come.”
