SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS:
ABOUT: Bolton at Home is a registered provider and charitable Community Benefit Society that manages approximately 19,000 homes across the borough of Bolton. As a social housing provider, their mission is to offer high-quality, affordable homes while also supporting tenants and the wider community. They provide not just housing, but a range of additional services that help improve the lives of their residents.
Their services include offering money advice, employment support, and helping tenants with skills development. Bolton at Home also engages with communities through initiatives designed to enhance well-being and social cohesion. The organisation works to make a positive impact on the environment and local communities by offering a range of community development services and promoting sustainability.
Committed to collaboration, effective communication, and active listening, Bolton at Home strives to deliver a service that benefits customers, creates stronger communities, and supports the local economy.
PURPOSE OF PARTNERSHIP: In response to the growing need for affordable housing in Greater Manchester, NHPF2 is acquiring properties and leasing them to Bolton at Home to provide individuals and families at risk of homelessness with a settled home. Additionally, Bolton at Home’s services help households with the support they might need to be able to sustain their tenancy and improve their circumstances, find employment or education, set down roots in the community and to save for a deposit so that they can eventually move into the private rented sector with a track record of maintaining a tenancy. Providing them with permanent accommodation enables tenants to feel safe, secure and settled in their homes.
The National Homelessness Property Fund 2: This fund was created in December 2020 in response to the growing need for affordable housing, providing safe and decent homes for people in housing crisis. Initially, the fund’s focus was on providing homes in the Greater Manchester region but has since expanded into Bristol, Oxford, Merseyside and London.
As of September 2024, the fund has a total of 355 properties in its portfolio and has housed just 500 people across the UK.
