ABOUT: Leges Support has been helping people to gain the knowledge, skills, understanding and confidence they need to be able to lead happier and healthier lives. With one-to-one guidance and information, the team provides support and advice for individuals experiencing debt, unemployment, housing or mobility issues as well as tackling loneliness by building social connections within the wider community. Social prescribing improves outcomes for people by giving more choice and control over their lives and an improved sense of belonging when people get involved in community groups.
PURPOSE OF INVESTMENT: The first investment helped them recruit more staff, improve the premises and online presence, and the second investment helped with working capital during its early-stage growth due to mass demand for services. This investment will help the new business move into wider operation and delivery, expanding its impact. As a result of this, the local Community will be stronger and more tolerant, because people from all backgrounds are supported and are able to be involved in community groups.
Peter Guest, Executive Director at BH Support: “At BH Support, we have not only built a great community resource for the residents of Bournemouth to access on the high street but have also developed an online platform for the community to get the support needed during all stages of COVID-19. Our priority was to always ensure our staff were safe but also that the community could still access our service remotely so they were not left on their own to face some of the issues that they are going through in their lives. We developed an online LIVE CHAT service which proved very popular with families especially as they could get guidance and support straight away through our team.”
