Resonance’s Finance Director and Head of People & Finance, Sharon Gorman, was named Finance Leader at the 2026 South West Leadership Awards.
Sharon oversees Resonance’s group-wide finance function, alongside leading the organisation’s People team and managing human resources across the business.
The award recognises Sharon’s contribution over the past thirteen years, during which Resonance has grown significantly while maintaining its culture and ethos. When Sharon joined the organisation, Resonance had a team of just five staff members. Today, the organisation employs more than seventy people.
Sharon has played a central role in establishing the financial and organisational structures that have enabled Resonance to scale its impact investment activity sustainably. During her time at Resonance, funds under management have grown from the organisation’s first fund of approximately £3 million in 2012, to more than £446 million today.
And as part of Resonance’s leadership team, Sharon has helped guide the organisation’s evolution from a social impact intermediary into a leading social impact fund manager. Over the past two years in particular, she has played an important role in the Resonance’s restructuring - needed to support our ambition to grow funds under management to £1 billion by 2030, while purchasing 5,000 properties and providing high-quality homes for more than 10,000 individuals facing housing crisis.
Sharon attended the awards gala dinner, hosted by TheBusinessDesk.com at Bristol Harbour Hotel on 23 April, alongside colleague Heather Darracott, Senior People Development Manager.
Affordable Housing Award win for Resonance Community Developers and YorSpace
Our Resonance Community Developers (RCD) fund and one of its investees, YorSpace ,were also recently recognised at the 2026 RESI Awards, winning the Affordable Housing Award (Less than 500 units).
The award recognises the partnership’s innovative approach to delivering affordable homes through community-led housing, with judges recognising the long-term social value and affordability built into the scheme.
Danyal Satter, Managing Director of Impact Labs at Resonance, and James Neward, Chief Operating Officer at YorSpace, attended the awards ceremony on behalf of the partnership.
The award-winning project, YorSpace at Lowfield Green in York, is one of RCD’s most impactful investments to date. The pioneering development is delivering York’s first housing co-operative, creating a new model for community-led affordable housing.
This fund recognition builds on previous success for the scheme after RCD and YorSpace won Most Innovative New Build Scheme at the 2026 Housing Innovation Awards earlier this year.
A £2.5 million social investment from RCD was instrumental in unlocking the finance needed to bring the scheme forward after years of planning. The investment, alongside support from North Yorkshire Combined Authority and City of York Council, enabled construction to begin and demonstrated the important role social impact investment can play in supporting innovative community-led housing projects.
The scheme will provide 14 permanently affordable homes for local families through a Community Land Trust and co-operative ownership model. Homes will remain affordable in perpetuity, with prices set at approximately 70–75% of open market value and protected from future speculation, helping provide long-term housing security for local residents.
Designed to One Planet Living and Passivhaus principles, the development will deliver highly energy-efficient, low-carbon homes alongside shared green spaces, sustainable infrastructure and a planned community hub.
ESG Initiative of the Year for Resonance impact property funds
Resonance’s seven impact property funds won ESG Initiative of the Year at the 2026 MoneyAge Wealth & Asset Management Awards.
Gary Walker, Head of Investor Relations at Resonance, attended the ceremony to accept the award on behalf of the organisation.
The award recognises the role Resonance’s impact property funds are playing in driving meaningful, system-level change through ESG-aligned investment strategies.
Since launching its first homelessness property fund, Resonance has been working to provide safe, stable homes for people experiencing homelessness, women escaping domestic abuse, prison leavers, and people with learning disabilities or autism.
Achievements across the funds to date include:
The award reflects Resonance’s belief that environmental improvements, strong governance and meaningful social impact should be embedded into investment strategy, while directing capital towards addressing the UK’s housing crisis.
Together, these awards highlight the growing recognition of Resonance’s work across finance, housing and impact investment. They reflect the dedication of colleagues, partners and investors working together to deliver innovative solutions to some of the UK’s most pressing social challenges, while creating lasting impact for communities across the country.
