Resonance North West SITR Fund
Stewart and the other investment committee members analyse and assess the robustness of the social enterprise deals put forward for investment.
He is a Partner with gunnercooke Consulting, focusing on supporting charities and social businesses in developing long term sustainability, and also supporting organizations from all sectors to maximize social impact.
Stewart’s background is in finance, working in corporate banking with Bank of Scotland, for over twenty years, primarily in the North West of England where he was responsible for managing many of the bank’s entrepreneurial client relationships. More recently, he worked with Enterprise Ventures as part of The North West Fund. Stewart’s primary focus in the last ten years has been to invest his financial skills and knowledge in maximizing social return on investment across the roles he has undertaken.
He has a broad range of strategic, financial and operational experience within not-for-profit organizations, and has been a board member of a number of organizations in the North West. These include Contact Theatre, the leading national theatre and arts venue to place young people at the decision-making heart of everything, as well as being Chair of Stockport Sports Trust, providing leisure facilities across Stockport. He currently Chairs the board of Persona Care and Support, which provides social care across Bury through day services, short stay, supported living and shared lives.
In addition, Stewart lectures on governance and finance as part of an Executive Leadership programme and as a visiting lecturer at University of Chester.
